Staffing Industry Employment Index

The Staffing Industry Employment Index is a monthly analysis of online job demand in the United States conducted by VANN SHAW. The index is derived by reviewing all of the major job boards and related niche job boards, including JobsInStaffing, to determine the demand for staffing industry professionals in both third-party staffing firms and corporate recruiting departments.

September 2010 Highlights:

  • Demand for staffing professionals increased 1.8% compared to the prior month.

  • Year over year demand for staffing professionals is up 53%. These results are consistent with the recovery in the overall economy. While staffing positions tend to be hard hit during a recession, they also recover quickly as the economy strengthens.

  • From a trending standpoint, September 2010 represents the 6th month of increased demand for staffing professionals in 2010.
